Gracing our #womancrushwednesday segment is Fistula Survivor and member of the Voices of Hope For Action movement, Ann Impous from Cheptais, Mt. Elgon.

The mother of four is as brave and strong as they come, she’s been through it all, she survived the tribulations and ordeal of living with the devastating child birth injury for seven years and as a result she was divorced by her husband, moved back home with her parents and endured isolation, discrimination and stigma.

After repair and skills acquisition, she was supported with necessary start up items thanks to WADADIA’s dearest friend Mr. Kit Braizer, the kit enabled her start her own dress making business.

Speaking with Women And Development Against Distress In Africa(WADADIA) Bungoma Field officer Ms. Fatuma Ramadhan Ann shared that now, thanks to the business, she earns money to support family. People now respect her. The discrimination and stigma stopped.

Today, her smile is wide and bright. She’s excited about her health and the direction her life is taking. With her health, dignity and joy restored, she quotes, “The sky is the limit”.
