Happy Friday Friend!

Happy Friday! 🎉

Nelly Cheseto is from Kamelei in West Pokot, her journey is nothing short of inspiring.

After enduring three years of silent suffering due to uncontrollable urine leakage—a result of obstructed childbirth during the delivery of her third child in 2020—Nelly’s life took an unexpected turn. She became a single mother of two, suffered a stillbirth, and was left abandoned by her partner. The community she once knew turned their backs on her, adding to her already overwhelming struggles. She moved back in with her mother.

Nelly’s mother had a chance encounter with our field personnel- Pauline Nangila in Makutano market, who was then, raising awareness about fistula symptoms, prevention, and treatment. This meeting led to Pauline Nangila, screening and referring Nelly to Kapenguria Referral Hospital, a health facility supported by the Fistula Foundation

Through this referral, Nelly received the care she so desperately needed and underwent successful repair surgery. Today, she is not just healing physically but also emotionally, thanks to our reintegration program where she learns dressmaking.

Nelly is incredibly grateful to WADADIA and the Fistula Foundation for their tireless efforts to restore her dignity and joy and for giving her a second chance at a normal life.

This weekend, we call upon you to help spread the word: Fistula is #Preventable and treatable.
