For the past 7 years, Wadadia has and continues to implement programs the target at empowering the marginalized and vulnerable women in Vihiga County, socio-economically and in terms of health.

Women and girls suffering from the debilating child birth condition in the region have previously been referred for free reconstructive surgery to either Cherangany nursing hospital in Kitale or Gynocare Women’s hospital in Eldoret, but not anymore.

On Friday, residents were overjoyed as fistula treatment, care and services were brought closer home thanks to a recent partnership between Vihiga County hospital and Fistula Foundation. The latest partnership brings us a step forward to ending Obstetric fistula within a generation. So far, Seven women have undergone successful repair and are recuperating.

Fistula Foundation team led by the Kenya Country Director Ms Habiba Mohammed, accompanied among other Fistula Surgeon, and the Vihiga County Director of Health spend quality time with recovering fistula patients in the wards behind heading to the launch ceremony that saw a fistula survivor from the area gave account of her journey.
