MARKING INTERNATIONAL DAY TO END FISTULA: A CAUSE DEAR AND CLOSE TO OUR HEARTS.

Today, we mark International Day to End Obstetric Fistula in Musanda, Mumias West, the theme of the year is: “Breaking the Cycle: Preventing Fistula Worldwide.”

Obstetric fistula; It is one of the most serious and tragic childbirth injuries. And it is preventable.

Ministry of Health and Local administrators gracing the event pledged their solidarity and commitment to supporting our efforts to end fistula and empower women and girls.

In the past decade, with support from our partner- Fistula Foundation, we’ve supported thousands of women to access free fistula repair surgeries; with hundreds of repaired women and girls receiving social reintegration support.

Three survivors of obstetric fistula boldly and bravely stepped forward and shared their experiences and empowerment journeys with the sole aim of raising awareness and having those suffering in silence to step forward.

Women showed up for the screening exercise and those found to have fistula will be referred to treatment networks supported by the charity Fistula Foundation for free repair.

Ending fistula and empowering women remains a top priority of Women And Development Against Distress In Africa(WADADIA)
