When Care Comes Closer, Communities Show Up.
Today, Kakuyuni Primary School became a meeting point between healthcare providers, partners and the community.
WADADIA joined Kenya Red Cross, Afya International Hospital, WADADIA-Habibat Mother and Child Hospital and DCETTI Investment for a free medical camp designed to bring essential health services and information closer to the people.
The community accessed a range of services, including:
- Malaria testing and treatment
- Blood pressure screening
- Blood sugar testing
- Fistula screening and referral
- Health education and awareness
- Information on childbirth injuries and neglected surgical conditions
But the most important part of the day was not simply the list of services delivered.
It was the conversation.
Through WADADIA-Habibat, women and community members had an opportunity to learn about conditions that are often misunderstood, hidden or normalised—including obstetric fistula, childbirth injuries and other reproductive health conditions that can significantly affect quality of life.

For some women, a conversation at an outreach may be the first time they hear that what they have been living with has a name, can be assessed and may be treatable.
That is why community outreach matters.
Care cannot only exist where the hospital is.
It has to reach people where they live, where they gather and where they feel comfortable asking questions.
And that requires collaboration.
Kenya Red Cross brought its strengths. Afya International Hospital brought clinical expertise. WADADIA-Habibat brought its maternal, child and reproductive health experience, including pathways for fistula screening and referral. DCETTI Investment contributed to making the outreach possible.
Together, the partners created something greater than what any one organisation could deliver alone.
Most importantly, the community showed up.
That trust matters.
It is what allows health workers to listen, identify concerns early, provide information and connect people to the next level of care.
For WADADIA, this is part of a wider commitment to ensuring that women—particularly those experiencing marginalisation, childbirth injuries and neglected health conditions—are not left behind simply because appropriate services are far from where they live.
Outreach is the doorway. Referral is the bridge. Treatment is the opportunity. Recovery is the goal.
We thank the Kakuyuni community for trusting our teams and our partners for joining hands to bring care closer.
And we invite more organisations, health facilities, community leaders and funders to work with us to take quality, dignified and responsive healthcare further into underserved communities.
Because when we bring systems together around people, access becomes possible.
