WADADIA, in partnership with UCSF and our sister facility, proudly launches the groundbreaking COPE Study at the WADADIA-Habibat Mother and Child Holistic Health and Training Hospital.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the COPE Study at the WADADIA-Habibat Mother and Child Holistic Health And Training Hospitall, through a partnership between Women And Development Against Distress In Africa(WADADIA), the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and our sister hospital WADADIA-Habibat Mother and Child Holistic Health And Training Hospital.

The COPE Study is being conducted by UCSF across three countries, Kenya, Uganda, and Ghana, with an expected total sample size of 100 participants. WADADIA is honored to be one of two implementing sites in Kenya, working alongside other partners under UCSF’s leadership.

This innovative study explores the use of a menstrual cup as a non-surgical management option for women with vesicovaginal fistula (VVF). It offers a potential alternative for those awaiting surgery or who may not experience full closure after an initial repair.

At our site, our research team of ten, composed of physicians, nurses, and data personnel, will be led by our Lead Director and founder, Madam Habiba corodhia Mohamed, and Dr. Anthony Wanjala as the Site Coordinator and Principal Investigator, respectively.

We sincerely appreciate the technical and training support provided by the UCSF team, particularly Monica Getahun (U.S.) and Janet Lamisi (Ghana), who facilitated the site training with dedication and professionalism.

We look forward to a successful implementation and to contributing evidence that expands care options and restores dignity to women living with fistula.
