WADADIA: Core Collaborator in Groundbreaking Fistula Rehabilitation and Preventive Care Study.
At WADADIA (Women and Development Against Distress in Africa), our commitment to restoring women’s dignity continues to expand through strategic partnerships that strengthen health systems and amplify survivor voices.
We are proud to serve as a core collaborator in the newly launched research study titled:
“Community Rehabilitation and Preventive Care Services for Obstetric Fistula in Nairobi and Uasin Gishu – A Health Systems Needs Assessment.”
The study, led by Amref International University (AMIU) and Moi University, brings together key partners — Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), the Ministry of Health (MOH), the University of Brighton (UK), and WADADIA — working collectively to address the gaps in post-surgery care, rehabilitation, and community reintegration for women living with obstetric fistula in Kenya.

Funded by the Africa Health Collaborative, this 12-month initiative focuses on developing community-driven solutions that ensure women heal wholly — physically, emotionally, and socially.
Representing the nonprofit and community sectors, WADADIA plays a central role in connecting evidence with real-life experiences. Our contribution anchors the study in grassroots realities, ensuring that the voices of survivors, community health workers, and local networks shape interventions that are practical, inclusive, and sustainable.
Our Founder and CEO, Madam Habiba Mohamed, graced the launch ceremony at Kenyatta National Hospital, where she emphasized that survivors’ reintegration and empowerment must remain at the heart of every health system reform. Her passion and leadership continue to shine, inspiring action beyond the hospital walls.
“This collaboration is a bridge between research and lived experience. It’s about ensuring that every woman recovering from fistula finds her strength, her community, and her dignity again.” — Madam Habiba Mohamed
Through this partnership, we reaffirm our belief that when communities lead, healing lasts. Together with our partners, we are co-creating a future where every fistula survivor is not only treated but truly restored. 💜
