Transformative Week: Advancing Holistic Care for Childbirth and Pelvic Floor Injuries
Today, WADADIA marks the successful conclusion of a weeklong training dedicated to advancing holistic care and treatment for childbirth and pelvic floor injuries a deeply needed area of focus for maternal and reproductive health.
This training brought together a diverse group of healthcare workers, social workers, community advocates, and program implementers who are deeply invested in improving the quality of care for women affected by traumatic childbirth experiences. It was designed to not only build clinical understanding but to shift mindsets and center the dignity, mental wellbeing, and reintegration of every woman we serve.

Over five days, we explored a wide range of interconnected topics including:
- The components of holistic care and WADADIA’s unique holistic care model
- The impact of childbirth injuries on quality of life
- The client care pathway from diagnosis through reintegration
- Community engagement strategies to break stigma and create awareness
- Best practices in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care
- The role of reintegration support in restoring self-worth and economic stability
- Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) for both clients and frontline health workers
Each day combined presentations, role plays, reflective dialogue, and collaborative group work, fostering a learning environment that was highly interactive, empathetic, and grounded in real-world experience.
We were especially honored to be guided by Dr. Wanjala, Fistula Surgeon and WADADIA Medical Advisor, whose practical insights and compassionate approach added immense value to the sessions.
This training aligns strongly with WADADIA’s three core pillars Reproductive Health, Psychosocial Support, and Economic Empowerment and speaks directly to our ongoing commitment to Restore Dignity for women through comprehensive, community-driven, and client-centered care.
We extend our deepest appreciation to all the participants and facilitators who made this space meaningful. Your voices, your stories, and your commitment are the heartbeat of change.
Together, we continue to learn, reflect, and act until every woman receives the care she deserves.
