Taking Healthcare to the Community: WADADIA Mobilises Ahead of HER Dignity Free Surgical Camp.

WADADIA is intensifying community mobilisation efforts ahead of the upcoming HER Dignity Free Surgical Camp, a multi-partner initiative aimed at restoring health, dignity, and opportunity for women affected by obstetric fistula and other neglected surgical conditions.

Our Outreach Lead is currently on the ground working closely with local administration and community leadership structures to ensure women and families are informed about the availability of free, high-quality surgical and psychosocial care.

This week, the team engaged community members in Kasufini, creating awareness, addressing myths and stigma, and providing accurate information on how women can access treatment.

A Collaborative Effort for Women’s Health

The HER Dignity Free Surgical Camp is being implemented in partnership with the:

  • County Government of Kilifi
  • Ministry of Health
  • Fistula Foundation

Together, these partners are committed to strengthening access to essential reproductive health services for women who have suffered in silence for years due to lack of information, resources, and referral pathways.

The camp will take place at WADADIA’s sister health facility, WADADIA Habibat Mother & Child Holistic Health and Training Hospital, ensuring that all patients receive care in a safe, accredited and professionally supervised medical environment.

📍 Location: Malindi, Kilifi County
📅 Dates: 27 February – 9 March 2026

Beyond Surgery: A Holistic Model of Care

At WADADIA, we recognise that healing does not end in the operating theatre.

Women affected by obstetric fistula and pelvic floor injuries often face:

  • Chronic incontinence
  • Psychological trauma
  • Social isolation and stigma
  • Loss of income and family breakdown

For this reason, the HER Dignity model goes beyond surgery to provide:

  • Comprehensive medical screening and treatment
  • Trauma-informed psychosocial counselling
  • Post-operative follow-up and rehabilitation
  • Community reintegration and livelihood support

This integrated approach ensures that women are supported physically, emotionally, socially, and economically — enabling them to fully reclaim their lives.

Community Call: Refer Women in Need

Many women suffering from childbirth injuries remain hidden in rural and peri-urban communities, unaware that treatment exists or fearful of seeking care.

We call upon:

  • Community leaders
  • Health volunteers
  • Religious institutions
  • Women’s groups
  • Families and caregivers

to refer women who are leaking urine or stool after childbirth for assessment and treatment.

Early referral saves lives, prevents complications, and restores dignity.

Partnership Call: Join Us in Scaling Impact

The success of this initiative depends on strong collaboration across sectors.

WADADIA invites:

  • Development partners
  • Corporate institutions
  • Health facilities
  • Foundations and individual donors

to partner with us in supporting:

  • Surgical and medical costs
  • Patient transport and accommodation
  • Counselling and reintegration services
  • Community mobilisation and follow-up

Your partnership directly contributes to strengthening health systems and expanding access to life-changing care for the most vulnerable women.

Together, We Can Ensure No Woman Is Left Behind

The HER Dignity Free Surgical Camp is more than a medical intervention. It is a statement of collective responsibility, compassion, and commitment to women’s rights and wellbeing.

Through community engagement, government collaboration, and partner support, WADADIA continues to advance a future where no woman suffers in silence, no condition is neglected, and every woman has the opportunity to heal with dignity.

Together, we restore dignity.
Together, we rebuild lives.
Together, we leave no woman behind.
