Exciting News from WADADIA!

We are thrilled to share that our Founder and Lead Director, Madam Habiba C N Mohamed, has been honoured with the Allan Rosenfield Award from the Fistula Foundation.

The prestigious award recognises her outstanding dedication to advancing fistula care and treatment. It celebrates her decade-long commitment to improving the lives of fistula survivors in Kenya and beyond.

About the Award;

• Allan Rosenfield was a tireless advocate for women’s health throughout his career.

• In 2012, the Fistula Foundation inaugurated the Allan Rosenfield Award to honour those who have made profound contributions to their mission.

• The statue is inspired by the powerful film A Walk to Beautiful, which depicts a woman in Ethiopia on her journey to a fistula hospital.

In 2014, the Fistula Foundation approached Ms. Habiba Mohamed to support the design and management of the Outreach component of the Action on Fistula Program in Kenya. Initially beginning as a consultant, she soon transitioned into a full-time role, overseeing the country program, with WADADIA officially seconding her to the Fistula Foundation. Over the next ten years, her leadership was instrumental in expanding the program’s reach and impact across multiple countries.

In August 2024, Ms. Mohamed made a significant transition from a full-time role with the Fistula Foundation to a part-time advisory role, formally concluding the secondment agreement.This strategic decision allows her to spend more time at wadadia and to continue her vital work of empowering marginalised women and girls while remaining connected and contributing to the foundation’s ongoing success.

Today, at our head office in Mumias, we were honoured to have The Fistula Foundation President and incoming CEO Alexa Smith present. It was an emotional moment and sweet surprise as Alexa presented the 2024 Allan Rosenfield Award to our founder and lead director, Ms. Habiba Corodhia Mohamed. The award is a testament to our Founding director’s relentless passion for creating change, and we couldn’t be more prouder to see her efforts recognized on such a global stage.
