Meet Mwanasita, 25 year-old and mother of one from Dzombo, Kwale.

Her life was forever changed when she developed obstetric fistula following the birth of her first child. For years, she endured unimaginable suffering – constant leakage, physical discomfort, and emotional pain.
Living with fistula meant isolation and shame. Mwanasita was forced to use layers of old clothes to manage her condition, hiding away from her community. Even her closest family members shunned her, unable to bear the smell and stigma. She felt like a shadow of her former self, stripped of her dignity and confidence.
But fate intervened when WADADIA – Habibat Mother and Child Holistic Health and Training Hospital – brought hope to her doorstep. During their free surgical and training camp, Mwanasita underwent a life-changing reconstructive surgery. The operation was a success, restoring her continence, confidence, and happiness.
This festive season marks the first time in four years that Mwanasita will celebrate dry, confident, and surrounded by loved ones. The The transformation is nothing short of miraculous – from isolation to integration, from shame to pride.
At WADADIA, we believe in the inherent dignity of every woman and girl. We recognize that fistula is not just a medical condition, but a symptom of inequality and lack of access to quality healthcare. That’s why we’re committed to providing free surgeries and comprehensive support to women affected by fistula.
Our approach goes beyond just treating the physical symptoms. We address the root causes of fistula through community outreach programs, education, and advocacy. We empower former patients to become fistula ambassadors, sharing their stories and inspiring others to seek treatment.
WADADIA’s work is part of a larger global effort to end obstetric fistula by 2030. With your support, we can reach even more women like Mwanasita who are waiting for a chance at dignity and and normalcy.
This festive season, consider joining us in spreading hope and joy to more women. Your contribution will help restore lives, rebuild communities, and bring an end to the suffering caused by fistula. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no woman has to endure the isolation and shame that Mwanasita once faced.
Let’s work towards a future where every woman can give birth safely, without fear of injury or stigma. A future where every mother can care for her children with pride and confidence.
