Strengthening the Kenya Fistula Treatment Network Through Strategic Partnerships.

WADADIA continues to play a key role in strengthening collaboration across the Kenya Fistula Treatment Network to ensure women affected by obstetric fistula access timely, high-quality, and dignified care.

As part of these efforts, WADADIA recently paid a courtesy visit to Busia County Referral Hospital, a treatment facility supported by Fistula Foundation to provide free reconstructive surgeries for women living with obstetric fistula.

The visit reaffirmed the importance of strong partnerships in expanding access to care, particularly for women living in underserved and remote areas.

For many women, accessing fistula treatment often involves long travel distances, financial hardship, and delayed care. The decentralization of treatment services through supported county facilities is helping address these barriers and bringing life-changing care closer to communities.

During the visit, WADADIA Program Manager Omar Mandela held a productive discussion with Fistula Nurse Jamila Mohammed.

The engagement focused on reviewing client flow, strengthening referral pathways, improving coordination, and identifying opportunities to enhance patient support throughout the care continuum.

Discussions emphasized the importance of seamless coordination from community awareness and identification to referral, surgical treatment, recovery, and reintegration.

This collaborative model remains central to WADADIA’s HER Dignity approach.

By working closely with treatment facilities, healthcare workers, community health promoters, and partners, WADADIA ensures women receive holistic care that goes beyond surgery to include psychosocial support and long-term reintegration.

WADADIA commends Fistula Foundation and all partners working to strengthen fistula treatment services across Kenya.

Together, these partnerships are restoring dignity, improving access, and transforming lives.

WADADIA remains committed to advancing collaborative solutions that ensure no woman suffers in silence from obstetric fistula.
