In the quiet corners of our communities, brave women have suffered in silence—living with fistula, battling shame, isolation, and daily pain. But not anymore.
“For 8 years, I lived with the pain, the shame, and the silence. Today, my smile is brightest it ever been.” – Lilian Tabu.
At just 40 years old, Lilian Tabu, a resilient mother of six from Mida, Kilifi, had endured nearly a decade of living with obstetric fistula—leaking urine daily, wrapped in old torn clothes, and retreating from the world in shame. Hope seemed lost… until she heard about WADADIA-Habibat Mother and Child Holistic Health And Training Hospital free surgical inreach on the radio.
With courage, Lilian made the call that would change her life. She was screened, admitted, and on March 12th, successfully underwent a fistula repair.
During a visiting hour, her brother, expressed profound gratitude to the clinical team for restoring Lilian’s smile, something he said their family hadn’t seen in years. Lilian herself, glowing with relief and joy.
In the last camp, over 70 women received treatment and care. We are on track to repair 300 women with childbirth injuries by the close of the year.
