🌟 HER DIGNITY: Heal, Empower, Restore 🌟
“I thought my life was over, but WADADIA showed me a new beginning.” – Mariam Karisa
Happy Terrific Tuesday! Today, we shine the spotlight on Mariam Karisa, a resilient 24-year-old mother from Malindi, Kwa Chocha. Mariam endured the heartbreaking loss of her youngest child last year and battled the silent struggle of obstetric fistula after a prolonged obstructed labor. For months, she faced the stigma of uncontrollable stool leakage, seeking help in multiple hospitals without success.

Hope came through a fistula survivor, who recognized her struggle and encouraged her to seek help. With WADADIA’s support, Mariam was screened, referred to BOMU Hospital, and successfully underwent fistula repair. But our journey with Mariam didn’t stop there.
Healing Beyond Surgery
At WADADIA, we believe in holistic healing—physical, emotional, and economic. Through personalized counseling and a strong support group, Mariam regained confidence. She then joined our Reintegration Program, where she pursued training in tailoring and, through our partnership with SOMO Africa, received seed capital to start her own business.

Today, Mariam is the proud owner of Milimak Fashion & Design, creating beautiful garments while inspiring other survivors to rebuild their lives.
“WADADIA’s psychosocial support and reintegration program came through for me when I thought my life was over.” – Mariam Karisa
Mariam’s story is a testament that fistula is not the end—it’s the beginning of a new chapter of strength, dignity, and empowerment!
